JD & JS Series

Eldema solid state j-lites are permanent mounting sub-miniature indicators. The lamps are gallium phosphide electroluminescent diodes. Their extremely long life, high reliability, resistance to shock and vibration and simple trouble free installation give them wide application potential. Color coded insulated lead wires are provided for a positive anode identification. The lamp is designed to operate at a forward voltage of a nominal 2.1 volts D.C. For other voltages external resistance must be supplied.

Lens Shape & Color
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
J-series indicator lights offer a choice of dome, Freznel dome, flat top or low profile lens shapes.

Flat top or low profile lens shapes may be hot stamped. See the back cover page
for details on the lens marking

the visible light emitted by Eldema solid state lamps is red in color. For best light distribution and visibility the Freznel dome is recommended. The lens color listed in the part numbers table have selected for their compatibility with the red light
emission and are the only colors that should be used.

Wire Leads
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
All J-Lites are supplied with standard 6” insulated wire leads. Special lead lenths are available. Specify in detail when ordering.

The leads are color coded to show polarity. The red lead is positive. The white lead is negative.

Life Expectancy for gallium-Phospide Solid State Lamps
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The useful life of Gallium Phosphide (Gap) LED’s may be considered infinite for most practical applications because the GaP LED’s life expectancy is typically much longer than the useful life of the equipment in which it is incorporated.

Shows light output as a function of time at an ambient temperature of 75 C and operating current of 20 ma for a sample of 25 units taken from actual 75 C data to room temperature operation is also is also given. For this typical lot, the half life at the accelerated test of 75 C is 6,000 hours; the room temperature half life for this same lot projects to 200,000 hours.

Time (Hours)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Change of the light output with the GaP LED’s operating continuously at a foeward current of 20 ma. Curves are shown for the for the accelerated life conditions (temperature 75 C) and a smoothed out projection of normal operation (25 C). the points represent an average relative light output for a production lot sample of 25 LED’s. These curves are typical of OPCOA GaP production LED’s.
